< CBI Canada’s Volunteer Base Grows - Crossroads Ministerio Carcelario

martie van nCrossroad Bible Institute’s ministry would be impossible without its dedicated core of volunteer Instructors. No one knows this truth better than CBI Canada, which continues to grow with new students and new graduates. Martie VanNiekerk, director of CBI Canada, attributes this success to the 155 Instructors who volunteer to correct students’ lessons.

“I would like to thank you [CBI Instructor] for all your time and patience in dealing with me and going over my lessons and Roadmaps. Your thoughtful words and encouragement are a great source of strength and comfort for me. I thank God constantly for those, such as yourself, whom He has put in my life,” said a CBI Canada student.

Thanks to its Instructors, CBI Canada has also overseen a successful pilot program of CBI’s Manga Messiah course. With its graphic-novel format and conversational style, Manga Messiahis especially helpful for students with lower literacy levels. VanNiekerk says that the course has been well received by prison chaplains and students alike, and she is excited about its potential to open up more avenues of discipleship.

To strengthen its volunteer contingent, CBI Canada also holds a yearly Instructor seminar, and in 2013 the event took place in Alberta. Faithful Canadian Instructors disciple 450 students in 85 different facilities around the country and truly embody the Gospel’s call to selflessly serve the least and the lost.
