< 'I Used to Put Meth in My Veins But Now the Holy Spirit Fills Me' - Crossroads Ministerio Carcelario

randall thompsonWhen Randall talks about his past life, it’s like he is describing a completely different person.

“It is important for me to tell you and others where I came from, that way it can glorify God in how far He has taken me,” Randall said. “I used to take a lot of drugs, but now I pray a lot and meditate on God’s Word day and night. I used to put meth in my veins but now the Holy Spirit fills me.”

He said he spent the first twenty-four years of his life seeking out his own selfish desires. But after landing in prison, his outlook on life has changed.

About six months into his sentence, Randall found a Crossroad Bible Institute enrollment form in a trash can, and he decided to sign up on a whim. What he has learned in his studies has changed his life.

“Over the past two and a half years of being in prison, I have learned more than I did in the short twenty-four years outside in the ‘world,’” he recently wrote in a letter to Crossroad. “I don’t want anything the world has to offer. I have had just about all it has to offer, and none of it comes close to comparing to what the Creator has to offer. Even though I deserve punishment, I accept God’s riches at Christ’s expense.”

Randall has found purpose in an environment that strips many people of all desire and ambition.

“God has given me important jobs in this prison. I assist elderly prisoners with daily tasks and volunteer in the chapel controlling the sound system,” he said. “It is a daily walk for me to do things God’s way and not mine. God’s way of doing things never fails and mine often does.”

Randall says that Crossroad Instructors have been helpful guides on his spiritual journey. “I really love CBI and how helpful you are in directing us to the truth found in God’s Word. Your studies and letters have helped me find the path to eternal life with Jesus,” he said.
