A dream became a reality this month as Crossroad Bible Institute introduced a new Spanish translation of the first course in Tier 2, Todo trabajo es para Dios (All Work Is God’s Work). Previously, Spanish translations of Crossroad’s Tier 1 courses had been available, but many students wished to continue their studies beyond that point.
Every week, about ten Spanish-speaking students graduate from Tier 1. Now they will have an opportunity to remain with Crossroad and continue their studies. Three students have already completed their first Tier 2 lesson, and several others have enrolled.
The translation has been much anticipated by Crossroad’s Spanish program, which reaches Spanish-speaking prisoners and corrections officers in the United States, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.
More than 400 million people speak Spanish as their native language, and there are now more Spanish speakers in the United States than in Spain. With a presence in both North and South America, the CBI Spanish program has the potential to reach the incarcerated segment of this population.
“To ‘go into all the world and preach the Gospel’ we need to speak the many languages of the world,” said Sandra Chang Raak, CBI’s international and Spanish program coordinator. “This translation allows Crossroad to provide more discipleship materials to our students, bringing them closer to Christ.”
Crossroad student Leonardo G., incarcerated in Texas, is one of the many Spanish-speaking students who have found hope and encouragement in the CBI Spanish program. He writes, “I’ve realized that God cannot be stopped by any boundary and that He directs His servants to minister to others’ needs according to His will. . . . I’m very grateful to you all and to God for showing me such love and understanding of my needs.”
